Family gathering
Xena is a lucky girl to celebrate her birthday over a few days! Today we met up with her sister and half-bother (from their mother's first litter) for a walk to celebrate the girls' birthday on Sunday.
Her sister Violet is struggling a bit in that she is being a bit reactionary around other dogs that get too close - a factor of being from a two dog household where she gets jealous if anyone comes too close to her half-brother, and possibly just down to temperament. Her human mum warned me that she had got worse since we last met, so we were watching the dogs quite carefully. Within a short while Violet had Xena pinned down and had her cheek and jowls in her mouth, growling fiercely, but as Xena is submissive, Violet backed off and Xena, although very shaken, was fine. After Violet had established that she was in charge, it was all fine and they had a great walk together and there were no more incidents. We came across two dead rabbits, Xena had no idea what they were as she has surprisingly never seen a rabbit before, but they are plentiful in the common where we walked today.
Here are some photos of the three of them, Vernon is a big boy at 34kg compared to the 21kg of his sisters who are the same size. I liked the last image where Vernon seems to be giving Xena a kiss!
I spent the rest of the afternoon photographing some macro things needed for my camera group homework (not camera club, which is now finished for the season).
It was very warm today and the weather is getting warmer as the week progresses.
