Irises
Another hot day today - Xena had fun on her walk playing with other dogs in the woods and then came home quite pooped, the heat definitely affects her.
After lunch I joined the photography group from the golf country club to have a talk by the head gardener and then to spend the afternoon photographing flowers. The head gardener said it has been such a bad year for flowers, after the cold spring with snow in April and frost in May many plants have not done well, so everything is a bit behind. I will go back in a couple of weeks when all the ornamental poppies should be out and the wild flower garden should be at its best. However, the irises were looking good. There were 12 people booked onto this event yet only 3 turned up, which is quite shocking really and rather rude. It was free so I guess when people don't pay for something they don't value it. It got very hot and so at about 4pm we packed up and enjoyed a cool drink on the patio.
Tonight I have a zoom talk by Les Forrester on Architecture photography, again organised by the photography group from the golf country club. They have had some very good speakers this year and this one should be interesting.
Tomorrow Gavin and I (and Xena) are going away for 2 days to a country hotel in East Sussex, not far from home at all. We had booked it last year as a treat but due to lockdown it was cancelled, so this is the first chance we have had to go since some of the restrictions were lifted.
