Connected
Our first visit to the gardens at the recently opened RHS Bridgewater.
It is simply stunning. It’s obviously a work in progress, and will develop and grow over coming years. But for it to look so good from the off is a huge credit to everyone who has worked on it.
It connects a modern piece of horticulture with the historic context within which it sits. It seeks to connect and reach out to communities in Salford and Greater Manchester (which was really important to Salford City Council in supporting it. On Tuesdays Salford residents can come for free, and school kids are encouraged. There was a group with their teachers having a great time in the woods whilst we were there).
And it’s a bit of a personal connection for me, as I was closely involved prior to my retirement almost a year ago. So I’m really pleased it has turned out so well.
If there is going to be a problem it’s that it is so good that it is going to attract far more people than originally anticipated. Not a bad problem to have.
A few extras added.
