From Whittington Church: A lovely time
Last year, on one of our daily walks, Dan and I took a path from behind Whittington Church, down to the river, and back along its banks to Kirkby Lonsdale. This morning, I ran along that same route.
It was, I must say, quite wonderful. This was, admittedly, a lot to do with the weather but the route itself was lovely: through Low Biggins; down Hostickle Lane; around behind the church; then along the single-track lane to the river; and finally back along the Lune.
And in the evening, I went out to Grub, with the MInx, Dom, and two of my daughters, Charlie and Hannah. Whilst the food and drink were excellent, that was not the only reason we were there: Amy Gledhill's 'A Lovely Time' was showcasing three comedians.
It was like the experience of the Edinburgh Fringe in a nutshell: the first act was funny but awkward; the second was confident and funny; and the third - Sunil Patel - had us all crying with laughter.
The next one is on July 3rd. If you're in the Manchester area, I'd really recommend it.
