Gold Feet

Just after I had traversed the railway line and was barely into Amwell Nature Reserve I heard an unfamiliar high-pitched bird song. I stood still getting pelted by a hailstorm and could see a tiny Goldcrest darting about amongst the ivy. It is Europe's smallest bird and never stops still!

This pic is the best I could do today. I love the little kinglet's golden feet which remind me of the yellow wellies we used to wear for sailing in the seventies. :)

(I am not a Catholic or a religious person but I like the sound of the new Pope. I have just heard that he is called Francis, Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the environment. Pope Francis is into birds, animals and Nature.)
