Drink Driving in Marseille

Today was the first day of the holiday on which I had to wake up relatively early and it wasn't easy! We headed into Marseille around 10.30 to meet Vero, Elsa's older sister. Vero was running a bit late which gave Ludovic time to try on the whole of his favourite shop whilst Elsa and I sat outside the changing rooms generally getting in the way and eating Oreos. When Vero arrived we had a little mooch about the shops and then decided on a Japanese for lunch (begining to think Ludo is obsessed!) which was pretty nice. Afterwards Elsa had a denist appointment so I was left to my own devices in Marseille for an hour before going to meet Ella at the train station.

Met Ella, and were picked up by the owner of our apartment who, although friendly, was a little bit strange. He was really nice but kept doing the friendly punch thing... something which really winds me up. This and the strong smell of alcohol coming from him didn't exactly fill us with confidence! Parking on a double yellow line to show us the flat, he was stopped by police, leaving Ella and I stranded on the pavement wondering what was going on! Eventually all was sorted and we settled into our apartment. We headed straight back into town for an expensive but nice icecream by the Vieux Port. We headed to the supermarket to get food for breakfast and then spent a while trying to agree on a restuarant. Our choice wasn't excellent, and the waiter was so rude, asking why we hadn't left him a tip, but the food was not too bad. Muscles and paella and lemon tart for me. At least there was plenty of time for catching up on our news.
