Macro Eclipse

I hadn't intended to photograph the actual eclipse. My plan was capture the crescents cast by the sun shining through a colander. I remember very vividly the way the light shining through the shrubbery in the garden cast crescents on the grass during the total eclipse of August 1999.

I recruited MrQ to be my assistant but there was complete cloud cover, no sign of the sun. He got fed up and wandered off. I always think positive and amused myself shooting macro while I waited for the sun to appear.

At 11:17 the sun broke through. With nobody to hold the colander for me I snapped the eclipse with my macro lens hand-held using live view.
