The wee white rose was adopted by Charles Edward Stuart as a symbol of Jacobitism.

This bush grows close to the dyke of Pitsligo Castle - home of Alexander 4th Lord Forbes of Pitsligo - one of the most influential Jacobites in the NE. The extra shows the entrance to the castle which along with the rest of the Pitsligo estate was forfeited after the disastrous campaign of 1745.
