Common Whitetail Skimmer

landed on the "Y" branch of the circular bed while I was walking toward the cutting garden.  (See extra.)  I was thrilled to capture the skimmer, but had my camera on Macro setting, so not the picture I would have wanted but, hey, I got it. 

Extra shows my dark irises that look black in bud.  I wanted to catch them before the heat knocks them out.  Everything is blooming and wilting fast.  Near 90 degrees and very humid every day.
