Such a small thing

When we turned off the TV we became aware of this continuous, high pitched whining sound. Searching the house led us to the fridge. Horrors! It’s old but it has never done that before. Was it in its death throes?

We resorted to our strategy of choice in all problems electronic and electric – re-boot (ie turn it off and on again). That worked and we found the culprit. It was this little power surge protection thingy which for some reason had been triggered and was warning us about a surge. Problem solved (unless it does it again).

And then of course there’s that thing that happens when you pull the fridge out. All that fluff and gunk, not to mention the things you didn’t even know had fallen down behind. How shaming, you have to drop everything and get in and clean it up.

Such a small thing, but it has a flow on effect.
