Rievaulx Abbey

Our last day in Yorkshire, so home tomorrow.  We went to Rievaulx Abbey this morning and arrived just as the site was opening.  I took the opportunity to get a few photographs before there were too many visitors.

This is a nine shot HDR panorama, put together in Lightroom and with a little skew applied in PS to get the ends vertical.   I'm not sure it is possible to get a sense of the place into one photograph,  most visitors were clearly in awe of the grandeur even in it's current state. 

In the afternoon our friends went to visit a niece while we drove to Goathland and were treated to a view of the trains passing over one of the small road bridges (in the extra)
