Cathedral City

Today's image was taken in Rochester on a small detour on the way home from the weekly food shop. We only stopped off for a quick drink and maybe grab an image as our mate Baz asked if he could come round to watch the England v Croatia game in the Euros.
This shot is of the magnificent Rochester cathedral - I keep forgetting that Rochester is a city but apparently it is a common myth that a town or region must have a cathedral to be granted city status.
When we got back we laid out all the snacks and drinks ready for the big game which was just as well as Baz arrived early. When hadn't seen him for over a year due to the pandemic and it was so good to able to enjoy his company again. He also bears a passing resemblance to Gareth Southgate so we decided we would take it as a good omen for an England win!
The England performance was very professional and I thought they played with a calm assurance throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to watch the game, have a good old chinwag and consume our beers and snacks.
There had been a big shadow cast over the game following yesterday's distressing events in Copenhagen where the Denmark player Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest. Mercifully the news was much better by the end of the day as he was conscious in hospital and eventually able to speak to his team mates. Hopefully he will be able to make a full recovery. Get well soon Christian.
