The Bass Maltings, Sleaford...........
......................were built by Bass Breweries between 1903 and 1906 - the largest of their kind in the Country. I believe there was a huge fire there in the 1970s and the place is now almost derdlict, although some of the buildings still contain equipment of former Malting Processes.
A large building company has put forward a proposal to convert the buildings for a mixed use site - residential, retail, offices, restaurant, museum area etc.. The site is very challenging due to it's size and complexity - and is also of huge historical significance!
The outline plans have been accepted by the Town Council although there is much controversy regarding access roads etc and a lot of people are not at all happy.
Personally, I am concerned that as it is on the fringe of the town, it will take trade from the existing shops in the already struggling centre but what do I know!!
Weather bright and sunny with a temperature of around 4 deg C - although the frost first thing was so hard, I thought it had been snowing again!
These buildings are even more impressive on "L" on your keyboard.
Enjoy the sun if you have it too!
Update: looking at the picture now, I see it looks as if there is a river in the foreground but it is actually a road - I should have waited for a car to come along!! Sorry - easier to add this than crop the image!
