Clachtoll Broch
We had a lazy start to the day but, after coffee, it was decided that Miss Flum would go for a bike ride and we would do our own thing.
So we started by going to Achmelvich beach to paddle in the sea and potter round the rocks, then went to Flossie's Beach Store at Clachtoll for lunch.
Then we walked to Clachtoll Broch, which was better preserved than expected, having both entrance doorways and a few steps in the hollow wall intact, due to painstaking conservation. It is estimated to be around 2000 years old. After pottering on the rocky shore and a mooch on Stoer beach we returned to the car and drove up to Stoer Lighthouse, too late in the day to attempt the walk to the Old Man.
We joined choir practice without the requisite books but managed the well-known pieces, distracted by the visiting red deer, four in the front garden, three at the back. Lovely to see but difficult to photograph in the gloaming, best effort appears as an extra.
