Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Holidays Day 1

We had a lovely drive down to North Wales. Five hours on nice motorways - we do enjoy the pothole-free roads that exist outside Edinburgh city boundaries. Having been in lockdown for absolutely months, one forgets what normal roads are like.

Archie was dropped off with Derek this morning, and we’ve had a regular - very regular - photos and videos of his day. All good.

We came to Ruthin because we remembered being here in the 90s in our combi van. In fact, I really remember that building with the windows all up the roof. But I remembered that there were many many more…

Our (castle) hotel has seen better days, but it’s really amazing - goes on forever, with miles of corridors, dining rooms and lounges everywhere, and wonderful outdoor areas. And they have a gym and a spa. JR had a wee go in the gym before dinner. I won’t bother. We sat outside after dinner till about 9pm it was balmy. Terence the peacock hung about and ate a few dog treats I had in my pocket.

Off sightseeing tomorrow.
