Nicky and her Nikon

Midsummer

Today it is midsummer's day, the summer solstice - and it has rained all day and the temperature has not got above 13C. A week ago it was extremely hot at 29C, but that is typical British weather to vary so much. I dislike the very warm weather so I don't mind the temperature being cooler today, but I get sad when I realise that we are now on the downward spiral of our lovely long days getting shorter again. Last night I went outside at 10.30pm and it was still light enough to see things in the garden, I love that about our summers.

With all the rain we have lots of tiny mushrooms popping up all over the lawn, so this morning there I was on my knees (on a plastic garbage bag to avoid getting soggy knees) taking photos of them. I did consider focus stacking this shot but personally I don't like focus stacked images, they look too encyclopaedic for me.

So on midsummers day Xena it was back to wellies and a warm rain jacket when I took Xena for a walk - and then she had to get washed afterwards as it was so muddy. But the weather is improving from tomorrow.

I have a busier week now that things are slowly opening up again - thankfully the rain stops tonight as I am in London again tomorrow.
