Wipe Out

Making the most of a sunny afternoon we headed up the Wirral to a place called Red Rocks, which I last visited in my twenties. My memory was of large sandstone outcrops, but the reality was a lot smaller. Either there’s been a lot of sand laid down in the past 30 odd years, or I’m actually remembering somewhere quite different!
In the absence of any impressive rocks to look at, we decided to walk across the sands to West Kirby and see if we could get an ice cream. Great walking conditions and we could also see people making their way out to Hilbre Island - only done that once and had to race the incoming tide on the way back!
Whilst enjoying said ice cream we were transfixed by the skills of these windsurfers. The stiff breeze meant they were really flying across the water - almost literally in the case of the chap on the orange board as it seemed to have some sort of hydrofoil underneath, which meant he was a good couple of feet above the water when up to speed. And in spite of how it looks in the photo, they did manage to avoid colliding!
Ambled back across the sands, completing a 5K stroll by the time we got back to the car.
Another evening of wall to wall football scheduled on the telly, but hopefully we might be able to find something else to watch on one of the other, more obscure channels! Failing that, I’ll put some paint on the walls and watch it dry.
