Parys Mountain
I left mum's after breakfast and was home by 10.15am - what a difference to when I had to drive back to Brighton! We had planned to start painting the kitchen today, but Alan's had a busy week at work and he wanted to get out, so we decided to go over to Anglesey to visit Parys Mountain which is an ancient copper mine that I saw photos of the other day. Alan's turned Bertie back into a day van now that we've finished all the tip runs, and when we got there I cooked venison burgers on the little kitchen and we sat in the sun for lunch before hitting the copper trail.
The mountain held the title of The Copper Kingdom because it was the biggest copper mine in the world, and apparent Dr Who was filmed there. It's a really interesting place it is, the colours were amazing and it felt like we were on Mars! I've added an extra looking down into the crater which we walked down to and found an old mine shaft and caves.
We spent a good few hours there, and took lots of photos as you can imagine! We also stopped off at the famous village with the longest Welsh name which isn't easy to say and is shorted to Llanfair PG - Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
Translated it means St Mary’s Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel Near to the Fierce Whirlpool and Church of Tysilio by the Red Cave.
