Oh, Heck!

It was our 34th wedding anniversary today.  We had the opportunity to visit horse trials at Chillington Hall, a new venue for British Eventing and so we planned the day, before going out for a celebratory meal at the Oakley Arms, which was the setting for our wedding reception all of those years ago.

I like the challenge of getting images from these events.  You know where the horse and rider will be going, but you still need to find the decisive moment.  Facial expressions always help to tell the story.  I had hoped for an image that included a backdrop of the hall (see extra) but the layout of the course and its components left only the dressage ring available.

We even had the chance to visit the Hall and have a quick look inside, even meeting Mrs Giffard, the wife of the current owner.  It was fascinating to see rooms that are still in daily use by the family, it had a more lived in feel than some of the historic houses we've visited..
