The New Council Chamber

I was at the offices today, hot desking for part of the day.  I was also taking photographs of the past, current and vice chairmen which will be framed and put on the walls of the civic area.

This is the revamped council chamber.  For all of my years working a the Council the chairman and other officers used to sit at the other end of the chamber, which in acoustic terms was completely the wrong way round as the ceiling rises as it goes away from them.  Now they have changed it around, though voices carrying will no longer be an issue with microphones and speakers in front of the councillors.  They will also be televising meetings with remote cameras zooming in on the speaker as they press the microphone button to speak.  Very 21st Century.
