Standing Up

Apologies for not commenting or acknowledging in the last couple of days. The WiFi here on holiday is very shaky and I seem to get just a few moments to get online. But what a lovely day. 6 hours non stop on the beach. So much to stare at. A big lifeboat doing exercises in the bay, a hazy view over to Bournemouth, people pottering around on their pretty sailing boats. Occasional trips to the beach café for drinks and snacks. Digging a sand boat on the beach for Ophelia (perhaps more for me than her) and trying out my new camera.

At one end of the beach is this old pill box, gradually tilting not the drink. Apparently it was manned by a single gunner in WWII equipped with a machine gun to counter any possible German invasion into Poole harbour.

Cant have been very comfortable. But thanks to the valour of the armed forces at that time the stand up paddle boarders are able to enjoy a happy trip around the bay in the sunshine.
