Weilheim, Germany

This is taken in the main square of the little town of where we are based at the moment. So many buildings in this area have beautiful paintings in them (see extra for a collage of my favorites from today).

We started the day by taking the train to Oberammergau, a small village on the edge of the Bavarian mountains. It is famous for the religious Passionsspiel (Passion Play) performed every ten years and, apparently, is the world’s longest running play. The performance lasts from 9am to 5.30pm with a 3-hour break for lunch. The village shops are full of amazing wood carvings, although sadly for them, we seemed to be the only tourists today. The collage of paintings were taken here.

Having wandered around the village, we set off on our bikes and did 61km to get back to the van. It was mixed weather today and a couple of times we had to shelter from the rain, which stopped as soon as we’d finished and the sun came out!
