Coooold

Okay, so please forgive me if this blip doesn't make much sense, we spent all of tonight in the hotel bar (which also happens to be the only bar in town) and I'm feeling a little bit worse for wear. There was lots of whiskey and gin flying around, as well as some really fun karaoke, in Finnish!

Today we went skiing in the nearby ski resort of Levi, which was lots of fun. A couple of us are planning to go back tomorrow if my dodgy old knees can cope. I just took my x100 with me, but forgot the cable so no blips from there unfortunately. After skiing we had a traditional Lappish dinner, including lots of smelly cooked and uncooked fish, and reindeer prepared in about 6 different ways - we've eaten an awful lot of reindeer this week! It was pretty tasty though, and very sweet of them to put on a nice meal for us before we leave.

After dinner I hit the bar with the two Dutch guys and the three Aussies, and we laughed almost all the time we were there, such a fun evening. At the end of the night I got chatted up by a random Finnish guy called Mika who invited me back to his secluded cabin in the woods... only 40km away apparently, and very quiet... as you can imagine I was very disappointed that I had to decline!

The photo is of the thermometer on my bedroom window, just before we left for skiing this morning - still -28°C! Apparently it was around -36°C during the night, when we were out hunting Northern Lights... slightly cold! As much as I love it here I'm looking forward to wearing less than 7 layers of clothes again when I get home on Monday :)
