Sea Pinks on A970

Another beautiful sunny day, and warm again.  Flat calm this morning, turned windy for a while, and now a calm evening, but cloudy.

Up really early, 5am, for a 6.30am start.  Now a month into work at the airport, I'm on the full-time rota.  I was on check-in first thing, and then moved on to meeting and boarding planes.  All meals outside today, breakfast on the veranda, lunch outside at the airport, and then a barbecue at Madeline's this evening.  Some gardening done, walkies with Sammy and another early night.  Strange going to bed when the sun is still shining!

The wildflowers are looking great around Shetland just now, and a wash of colours has brightened up the landscape.  This time of year, large areas turn bright pink, due to large amounts of beautiful sea pinks.  It's not just the banks and cliffs that get the beauty, large areas of the roadside are now perfect habitats for them, and they are thriving.  The 6am sunlight doesn't do them justice, but it's stunning when driving by.  Taken on the Clift Hills, Cunningsburgh.
