5 years ago today I photographed Lou in her back garden on the day she was first diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Today we sat there again, but today she received the news that despite 16 months of treatment following the cancers re emergence, the tumour has not gone. That has now exhausted all potentially curative options. 
Next week will bring another CT scan and the following week a plan which is likely to include immunotherapy. 
We have all come away as 2 families to the healing Lakes tonight for a pre planned week. Perfect timing.  There have been tears and laughter. Lou is, as always, astonishing. She has spent much of the day talking about how fortunate and grateful she is. I am quietly heartbroken.
