Beekeeping!

I spent the day with some of the bee group, doing some revision for the Assessment in a fortnight. The weather cleared up enough for us to see Julia’s hives.
These were showing signs of various diseases, which was interesting but distressing. One hive had many dead bees on the floor, due to Chronic bee paralysis virus. Once established in a hive, this is very difficult to treat and results in the loss of many bees. Another hive was doing well and we found the marked queen. I will have a careful look through my hives next time and hopefully see nothing to worry about!
