Dun Da Lamh
We have often driven past this hilltop fort but never with time to go and have a look. As part of the "staycation" Mrs SJR and I had another picnic day out with the dogs.
It was mild but we plodded up the hill in near continuous heavy rain and got a right soaking. The information board tells the visitor that 5000 tons of rock were transported from the valley floor to construct the fort. It enjoys an imposing position, defended by cliffs on three sides. A clearer day would have offered more distant views but as it was we could see up Glen Shero, the Spey Dam Reservoir, Creag Dubh further down the Strath and back towards Laggan.
On returning to the car we sat inside to have the picnic with everything steaming up.
Extras give a feel for the day.
