Stranded
This is the pier head at Herne Bay. The pier (which was extremely long at 3,787 feet (1,154 m) was destroyed by storms in 1978 and 1979, and the pier was finally dismantled in 1980. The pier head was left as an island in the bay.
Fred and I enjoyed a fabulous sunny cycle along Cycle Network Route number 1, from Rochester to Whitstable. The path is right along the sea and is 95 per cent away from traffic. It's wondrous!
