The paddock
I walk past this paddock most days when I go to the woods accessed from the bottom of our road - the other day there was a baby deer standing on the other side of the gate which took off as soon as it saw me.
Another muddy walk today, I hope the woods soon dry up - we are expecting better weather next week. I don't want hot weather, but I am missing the light and the long days we get in summer when it is sunny.
With the change in travel restrictions, it means if you are fully vaccinated you can holiday in countries on the amber list and there is no need to quarantine on your return to the UK. Which means we can probably get to Switzerland next month, yay! We also have a booking next month (fully refundable on cancellation) to Crete as a backup but the family would prefer to go to the Swiss mountains, we all don't like the heat and Greece in August is extremely hot. We also would prefer to hike rather than lie on a beach.
Luke had his first Pfizer vaccine about 4 weeks ago and has been invited to get the second one now, much earlier than expected. Although the rest of the world is vaccinating 21 days apart for that vaccine, the UK was vaccinating 12 weeks apart to rather get as many people as possible vaccinated with one dose. This has now been shortened to 8 weeks, but after his invitation it seems the gap has been reduced even further. However a study indicates that one gets better immunity if you delay the second vaccine to 12 weeks - although this was a trial on older people. Anyway, he has decided to stick to his original second date which was 8 weeks apart.
Tonight, a big match for England as they play in the football semi finals - they have done very well to get there!
