Coventry Cathedral
Even more unlocked
We went to an actual real live concert this evening at Coventry cathedral. We were in the new cathedral built in the sixties to replace this beautiful old one in the photos which was destroyed by German bombs in 1940.
We heard Bach’s St Matthew Passion which I must admit was a long time to sit in a mask.
The cathedral is built of stone and concrete and steel and glass with no soft surfaces to absorb the sound so the acoustics were poor.
It was performed by Armonico Consort and the soloist singing the part of Jesus was Sir Willard White. Superb.
As seems to happen regularly when we go events like that someone was taken ill during the performance and had to go out in a wheelchair looking very unwell. Hope it wasn’t COVID
