National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido
You are not allowed to take private vehicles or even bikes into the National Park but a shuttle bus goes up there every fifteen minutes or so throughout the day. We cycled down to the town of Torla and had a look around. It’s a wonderful old little Spanish mountain town with a good visitor centre. There’s a display in there showing then and now photos of the glaciers showing how much they have retreated in recent years.
We bought tickets for the bus and went back to the campsite to drop our bikes and shopping off and then caught the bus up into the Park.
We haven’t really come prepared for long hikes but we did a couple of hours to the first waterfall and back. The scenery is spectacular and it was a bit less hot in the woods.
Going to try to put in an extra of the Pyrenean violet which we saw. I wouldn’t have seen it but for a woman photographing it with a big proper camera. Native flower to this area.
Am cheekily tagging it for flower Friday even though it’s only an extra!
