The coot and her chicks kept disappearing into the reeds so instead here is Branched bur-reed which was growing in profusion in a shallow pond.  The pale green flowers are strange with the smaller male flowers growing in clusters above the larger fluffy female flowers.  They then shrivel up after the pollen falls on to the flowers below which then develop into round brown fruiting heads.
