Jazz and Jive
This morning we travelled over to The Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna for a Jazz concert by the Society Jazzmen at 11am. They’ve been around for years, decades probably, so we weren’t sure what to expect. They staggered on to the stage and we wondered if they’d even make it to their positions. The concert started and it was so much fun, made even more so by a group of dancers who jived to the music on either side of the band. The band played for an hour and a half, obviously enjoying themselves, as was the audience. The bass and trombone players were also the vocalists, the trombone player giving a very good rendition of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World. It was a happy start to the week.
