WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Tiller Girl!

Frank took this of me today.
We went from Sykehouse Lock to Castleford. Quite a long way on the Aire and Calder River but most enjoyable as the weather has been kind and the scenery - mainly trees - beautiful.
We watched a Common Tern diving repeatedly. Such a graceful bird which I've never observed close up before - well, through binoculars ;-)
We saw a bunch of those horrid crinkly plastic balloons in the water. I backed the boat up to them and Frank hooked them out with the barge pole and then stabbed them with his penknife - they are now in the bin!

I am so sad and angry at the racial abuse directed at 3 England players. Such kind and hard working young men who could teach their stupid, mindless abusers a thing or two. Social media has a lot to answer for too for allowing them to post such nasty comments.

As for the lifting of restrictions on the 19th! The government back tracking again. Nicola Sturgeon is keeping the mandatory wearing of masks.
I'm waiting for the surge in Covid numbers after Wembley and also just saw on Yorkshire news footage of the Yorkshire Show. They said they have everything in place to make it Covid safe. I didn't see anyone wearing a mask and they were so close together! Numbers are are already rising - what happened to protecting the vulnerable?

We started watching 'Lie With Me' last night - a psychological thriller. The second of four is on tonight.

We saw some fellow boaters from our mooring at Niffany earlier. Lee and Lisa on their boat Radway going in the opposite direction to us.
We may get to Leeds tomorrow.

Hope you've all had some sunshine today
:-)X
