See You Later, Papa John
Many of us called him "Papa John", not only to avoid confusion with his son, who is also named John Woods, but out of love and respect for the man he was. He had great taste in the sports teams he supported avidly(meaning he cheered for the same teams I do) and he put his children on the path toward a personal relationship with Jesus, which is the greatest thing a parent can do. Oh, they still had to make their own choice, but he made sure that they had the opportunity to make that choice and, then, to make sure that others had the same opportunity. It was a lovely service, preached by his son, John and we got to hear the beautiful voice of John's wife, Jennifer, one more time as she sang a duet of "Amazing Grace" with her sister. We also heard from Papa John's daughter and a long time pastor friend. We will miss seeing Papa John every Sunday, but we know that we didn't say goodbye to him today---we just said "See you later, Papa John!"..........
