Afternoon Tea

One of the reasons it's good to be involved with a large university is the variety of events that are available to attend.

This afternoon I went with H2 and a couple of other friends to a "Palm Court Afternoon Tea." We'd gone expecting to eat afternoon tea whilst a man played the piano in the background but it turned out that it was a two-part piano concert with afternoon tea consumed during the interval (with no music at all). Very odd and disappointingly the room had all the atmosphere of an operating theatre, which was impressive given that it was in an old, proper concert hall.

Anyhoo, the pianist was not only very good but lovely too and the music was a wonderful mix from early 1900s to 1950s.

A thought did strike me part way through though - I *am* middle class and I *am* middle aged.... Eek!
