I Know What I Like (In YourWardrobe)
After a fairly quiet morning, we set off for home around 1pm. Straight into the nightmare journey from hell. Stop start traffic all the way up the M56 and M6. Not helped by the heat outside and the constant traffic reports advising it was busy heading towards the Lakes. No sh*t Sherlock!
We finally arrived home after a 3.5 hour journey - normally it would be just over 1.5 hours - straight into a barrage of questions from the joiner. Before we had a chance to admire what he’d done in our absence, we were having to decide about what we wanted in the bottom of the wardrobe, could we change the sizes of the doors and how much did we want cut off the drawer unit to make it fit!!
The answers turned out to be a) same as the sides, b) yes, of course, if the original sizes no longer make sense and c) as much as is needed! So make the most of the mirrored door in the photo. It was only hung to check all was lined up correctly, and will be returned to Howdens on Monday. So rather than two wide plain doors and one narrow mirror door, we’ll be having two narrow plain doors and a wide mirrored one. Which actually makes a great deal of sense, and none of us know why we didn’t think of that configuration in the first place.
Once we take the dust sheet off the bed, we should at least be able to sleep in the bedroom over the weekend. And if we can get the backboard and shelf supports varnished over the next couple of days, we might even be able to start putting clothes back in on Monday or Tuesday.
It really is looking like all the joinery work could be complete by the end of next week. I doubt we’re going to get much respite from the mess though as the electrician and tiler are already warming up in the wings…
