The Last Evening

We had a fun time today driving up to https://behrensfamilywinery.com/wines/ On Spring Mountain in St. Helena, Napa Valley. (Not sure the link will work - doing this on my phone - it’s well worth looking at their wine labels if you’re so inclined.) the fires of 2017 and 2020 devastated a huge portion of Napa County and the drive up Spring Mountain was humbling to say the least. The winery lost a lot in the fires and has had to rebuild. But never lost the grapes, which act as a fire block since there’s little fuel.

I don’t think my iPhone photo does this view justice. You can see the valley floor and a section of the vineyard. And you may be able to see the extensive burn damage which was as far as the eye could see.

We had a great tasting and then took our friend Dana to the airport. We have a quiet evening ahead…our last before leaving for home tomorrow.
