Weather-wise…. A horrible, horrific day…

And yet this looks to be a tranquil scene, a pretty picture in fact. It is the the Taylor River in flood at Riverside Park, downtown Blenheim. Meanwhile just a few kilometers away the mighty Wairau River is in high flood, is raging and threatening to over-top stopbanks. Thank heavens for previous Councils and rivers engineers who designed and re-built an extensive network of stopbanks. We are thinking of the hundreds of folks evacuated from many townships and communities around Marlborough tonight. We hope and pray for the weather to clear, the rivers to drop and the danger to pass. Arohanui. Kia Kaha.
