In which: desecration

Our neighbour was an elderly gentleman who died last summer. His house hasn’t sold so to make it ‘more’ marketable today his family knocked down an original ‘30s wall and started to cut down the mature and beautiful privet hedge. Their reasoning? People want off-street parking despite the fact that (a) you can’t fit a car into that space anyway (b) all the nearby streets are terraced and sell really quickly because the houses have kerb appeal. Which this has lost.
