More roses

After a slow start the roses are doing well.

I’ve had a slow start too today after the convivial evening with Katy and Colin. I’d thought it would be warm enough to eat outside but we only managed the starter then had to come in. Today is much hotter and it’s hard in our south-facing garden to find any shade. Chris drove over for coffee but had to use a stick for her bad knee to get up our path.

I’ve been reading - I’m really enjoying the Harold Wilson biography. It’s much less dry than the Sylvia Pankhurst one.

Dennis’s chemo for his bladder cancer has been postponed due to staff shortages in Ipswich hospital.

It is ‘Freedom Day’. Mr C was appalled to find the local small co-op had removed its one way system markers and some of the staff had removed their masks. It’s crazy. We’ll have to go back to on-line shopping. Our area has more Covid than at any time, mainly among under 30s but fortunately so far none are hospitalised. But the NE hospitals are having to increase ICU beds and postpone other work.
