"do you hear the people sing?"
OK so it has been in the cinema since long before Christmas but I only went to see Les Miserables for the first time today! So instead of heading off to a pub to revel in the delight that is St.Patrick's Day, I instead committed the worst social crime ever and went to the cinema by myself....what a loner I hear you all say :( Well, no one would go with me so what was I supposed to do?! But you know what - I don't care!! This film was worth it! It was 2.5hrs of amazing storytelling, faultless singing and an all star cast who did the story and the characters justice! WHAT A MOVIE!!! Needless to say I got home and immediately downloaded the soundtrack before I buy the CD version tomorrow for my car! Absolutely speechless!
Now I must go and see it in London's West End because now I know why it has been such a successful musical!
Apart from visiting the cinema alone, today has been a quiet day as far as a St.Patrick's Day is concerned! I was tempted by a trip to a pub for some Irish music to feel at home but the weather outside at the minute changed my mind! So instead I curled up with a glass of lemonade (hardcore I am!) and some Les Mis songs - don't ask me to pick a favourite, but I do know which one I can connect to personally...poor Eponine - I know how she feels when she sings...."On my Own"Check out the words for yourself!
"Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart,
Echoes the beating of the drums,
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!!!!"
"Freedom is mine, the earth is still,
I feel the wind, I breathe again!
And the skies clear, the earth is waking......
The day begins, now let's see what this new world holds for me!"
"ONE MORE DAWN, ONE MORE DAY, ONE DAY MORE!!!!!!"
