Crisis! (Again...)
I went over to the office today and Abi was out with her friends, so neither of us was around when Dan got home, which was just as well; he was feeling grotty, took a lateral flow test, and it came back positive. Here we go again!
Thus, around three o'clock, we had a family meeting on FaceTime to discuss what to do next. Dan, of course, is faced with 10 days isolation, but Abi didn't want another bout of that. I was a little more torn: I have quite a bit on over the next few days and self-isolation would be a massive inconvenience (to me and other people). On the other hand, I couldn't countenance abandoning Dan for a week and a half.
In the end, though, he was quite insistent. It transpired that virtually all of his friends had tested positive, too, so at least he won't be stuck at home while they're out having fun. This Delta variant certainly is ripping through his unvaccinated generation.
So, he confined himself to his room while Abi came home to get ready for work and I went out for an early evening walk. (Today's photo was taken just outside the back gate of the Rugby Club.)
In the evening, he came out onto the deck, where we had a beer, sitting about four metres apart, which I figured was safe enough. I was reassured to find that he was in pretty good spirits, although I still feel bad about going away and leaving him. He says he'll be fine, though, and the fact he and his mates are all isolating at the same time seems to have helped.
