Aircon

A heat wave is on its way or so we are told, and while it's not due until the start of next week, it was still pretty hot today.

I drove down to Salford first thing, walked into Manchester with the Minx, her to get her nails done, me to grab a late breakfast at Essy's, and then I walked back to college, where I took refuge from the heat in the wonderful air conditioning of the Midilab.

I did venture out at lunchtime and met the Minx on Bexley Square where the celebrations for Deli Lama's tenth anniversary were taking place. We were joined by my tutor, Yoss, for a bit of lunch, sitting under the trees outside Porta.

And after college, Yoss and I walked down to Joule, where we met Hannah for a drink and were later joined by Dan, fresh back from ten days in Morocco. Dan and I then went on to The Everyman to see 'Thor: Love And Thunder', which, I'm afraid, was just a bit too cheesy.

(I have glossed over the stressful start to the day, when Dan rang me first thing to say that the officials at Morocco airport wouldn't let him take his bag in the cabin, wanted £100 to put it in the hold, which meant joining an enormous queue, and the gate for his flight closed in ten minutes' time.

In the end, it was £35 - still outrageous - and the gate stayed open long enough for him to board. Phew!)
