There is Promise here!
I set the alarm last night for 6.30 a.m. - and when it went off, jumped out of bed, hoping to get an early morning sunrise for my today's blip. The sky was grey and it was raining, so I got back into bed and snoozed the alarm. Ten minutes later it went off again - but a quick look told me that the sky hadn't changed so I switched the alarm off, turned over and went back to sleep.
When I woke again about an hour later, a hymn was in my head:
When morning gilds the skies,
My heart awaking cries,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer,
One purpose I declare:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
So, as I looked out, the sky was not in any way "gilded" or golden - so did that mean the sun wasn't shining? Of course not, even if it isn't shining where I am, it will be shining somewhere.
I decided I would still take a photograph and post it as my blip today - as a reminder that this is what my faith is all about - believing that the sun is shining, even when I can't see it but if you look closely, there is promise there of a better day.
I know I have quoted before, but it bears quoting again, an example of faith found on the wall of a concentration camp where a prisoner had carved the words:
I believe in the sun, even though it doesn't shine.
I believe in love, even when it isn't shown.
I believe in God, even when he doesn't speak.
Yes, sometimes God is strangely silent in my life - and sometimes He shouts so loudly I can't help but hear Him - but I just ignore Him.....and then again sometimes He just quietly lets me get on with my life until I know that I need to come back to Him for the strength and peace that I need.
I have friends for whom the sun is definitely NOT shining in their lives, but they are coping with difficult circumstances KNOWING that God is with them and will give them all they need and perhaps He will even use me to help them.
Have a great week fellow blippers and be blessed.
