Off We Go
Well, we were going to Spain to buy building materials, but ended up kayaking there instead, basically because the kayak was tied onto the roof of the car and seemed a waste to take it off without using it. And then over the Lake to Monsaraz (you can see Monsaraz on the hill in the distance) beach bar for a beer and a salad, which I ate while watching my Uncle Denis' funeral on Zoom.
We launched from Mourão's old beach, which is all overgrown now, but we had a refreshing swim when we returned, extra of getting back, with the castle and our car on the shore.
Following on from yesterday's ruminations, if this were our last "normal" day on earth, would there have been a better way of spending it??
And, see this for humour on the issue.
Gratefuls:
- having such a good man for my Uncle, a man with a strong work ethic, strong principles, and a strong faith, plus an open mind, and a sense of humour; do they still make them like that?
- health and energy enough to paddle this far
- a beautiful, warm, empty, safe Lake to do it in, not to mention a companion to do it with
PS Judith, see the dry bags!
