Not Quite Putting the Sun In The Shade

I spent most of the morning in the garden, cutting the grass, deadheading and generally tidying up. The first of our sunflowers came out this morning, doing its best to match the sun. It would have difficulty, given the sweltering heat again today.

This afternoon our friends Tony & Rosie came round for coffee and cake and we spent a very pleasant three hours chatting in the shade of the apple tree.
