SOET DORING

Sweet Thorn or Acacia Karoo, the presence of this tree is an indication of sweet veld and its uses are almost unlimited. Truly an asset in this dry harsh environment. It is rich in pollen and nectar so the bees love it. Leaves, flowers and pods are eaten by the veld animals. The bark was used in the tanning process by the early settlers creating a reddish colour and the thorns were used as needles by some african tribes.
