Beetroot

Late July is *very* late to harvest the first baby beetroot but everything's been late this year.

This is a heritage French variety called Crapaudine (which translates as "female toad"!) that is long rather than round. 

I had some for lunch with hummus and homemade sourdough and it was very tasty.
