Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

2021 — 2nd Sunday with Tristan

Look carefully to see 3 tennis balls rolling along the gutter of the street in this photo and our great grandson Tristan guiding their path.

We had parked our vehicle at the Cayucos Library so that we could walk the two pups up the street to the elementary school and through the playground. While we were exploring the place with Tristan, three separate times he found an abandoned tennis ball. By the time we exited the school grounds, Tristan was cradling three balls and feeling quite good about his lucky find.

We rounded the corner to walk downhill, back to the library, and Tristan was inventing a game, beginning a race, in an instant we were watching and placing our guesses as to which tennis ball (he named them) would get to the bottom of the hill first. It was crazy fun. It all happened in a moment.

Tristan is 14. He is very much a man. He is very much a boy. We are watching him volley between the two mentalities and behaviors.

Earlier in the day Tristan and Grandpa Fun had ridden bicycles to Hardie Park here in Cayucos so Tristan could practice batting as Grandpa pitched a ball to him. Grandpa is getting more exercise than he has in a long time.

When they got home from the park we decided to go have Mexican food at Mi Casa Restaurant in Morro Bay. And it was then that we headed back to Cayucos to walk the pups and hopefully find a little bit of sunshine. The weather has been gray and overcast for several days.

Good night from
California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too! and
for 3 weeks great-grandson Tristan!
